I’m Oliver and I study Philosophy and Physics. I am particularly pleased with being able to translate one of the best works of Hoshi Shinichi. He was a pioneer in observing that technology—as an extension of mankind—dissolves the boundaries between ‘theory’ and ‘fiction’. Characteristically, his stories are often stripped of proper nouns and any giveaways of age, leaving behind a unique atemporal mood. It reads modern now, and probably will remain so in the future. I have tried my best to capture this flow of language into English.
